The New York chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) honored this year’s Rising Stars of Interior Design at a fete last week at the New York Design Center. The fifth annual event began with a special guest appearance by Interior Design Hall of Famer Jamie Drake who introduced the evening’s host, Brad Ford, a 2009 Rising Star. This year’s honorees included Anne Maxwell Foster and Suysel dePedro Cunningham, partners at Tilton Fenwick Interior Design; Nick Olsen of Nick Olsen Inc. and Ron Marvin of Ron Marvin Design.
Praising the young designers for their diverse talents, Ford says, “Tilton Fenwick has a really fresh new approach to glamor; Nick Olson also brings something new to the table with an updated twist on classic American decorating; and Ron Marvin always has a handsome blend of furnishings and artwork that make a room feel as though it’s evolved over time and not overnight.”
Three students from interior design schools were also recognized during the event. The stars-in-the-making included Ho Youn Yi from the New York School of Interior Design, Janice Wong from Parson’s The New School of Design, and John Feger from The Fashion Institute of Technology.
