Nemo Tile Company has three showrooms in the New York area and a remarkable breadth of product in everything from steel, glass, porcelain, and stone to more recent sustainable materials like coconut shell. However, since its 1921 founding in Jamaica, Queens, the company has never had a creative director. President Bert Karlin and vice president Matthew Karlin are changing that: they’ve appointed Charlotte Barnard to fill the company’s newly formed role. Previously, Barnard held senior positions with the Hearst Corporation and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and has worked as a lifestyle and consumer-trend expert.
“For over 90 years, Nemo has supplied tiles for the Midtown Tunnel to the new World Trade Center, to countless commercial, residential and retail buildings,” says Barnard. “Today, Nemo’s global reach, combined with its architectural and design expertise, puts everything in place for Nemo to remain at the top of its field for the next 100 years.”
According to the company, Barnard will be responsible for the continued strategic development and strengthening of the Nemo brand, including oversight of marketing and communications strategies.
