Family Living

Designer furniture is often forgotten about, as most people find decorating and furnishing a chore rather than a joy. However, it is becoming more and more popular, maintaining living spaces looking fresh; modern, up-to-date and cared for. Even for large families, designer furniture is the way forward.

Families in general need storage space, but when you have three or more children, something extra is needed. Hot in furniture trends this year, for example, is extroverted shelving with different sized sections suitable to hold different sized books. Also, rather than just having open shelves, drawers could be added to hide unsightly documents or even toys etc.

Thinking of living spaces, no room is complete without seating, and for families three-seater sofas are perfect. Whether a leather; fabric or blend sofa, there is so much choice out there this year, so there is no reason why you cannot find your ideal sofa. This year, office-like designs are all the rage with one colour pieces being blended with fabulously patterned cushions and rugs, which are making a come-back.

Seats with manoeuvrability are also important for growing families, and armchairs are idyllic. It is evident that the fore-mentioned office-style is also popular in armchair designs and this year, the bigger the better. As with beds, the larger the armchair is and often consequently the more you spend on it, the more comfortable it is. It is not uncommon that the armchair becomes more popular than the sofa with children as they can feel more mature, unique and at times quite a bit more sensible. For smaller children, they can love them for the snuggle-factor; being able to get closer with their parents before bed time.
