Backyard wind h3 Thu As my plane circled over Amsterdam, one of the most important aspects of the landscape under a number of modern windmills dotting the fields. So when I came across Harmowind project, it got me thinking, why can not we adapt this free energy source and become self-reliant? This windmill is specifically designed for domestic use and can be installed in the courtyard. It has the ability to produce enough power to use the family unit.
As the designer explains “Unlike horizontal-axis wind turbines, Harmowind is independent of wind direction. It can be used to generate the turbulence of wind power, What happens very often in built-up area. Harmowind is extremely quiet, thanks not only on the vertical axis, and a small turning radius. “

  • Wind speed is shown that the most important element ( between wind speed, capital cost, operating cost, interest rate and useful life) to reduce or increase the cost of electricity production.
  • as the wind is stronger higher, and wind turbines with a height of max. 10 m should not be built without permission in most states in Germany, but was conceived as a 10 m high .
  • Double-blade-rotor decreases (compared with 3-blade-rotor) demand in the natural frequency of mast.
  • -helix form of inequality-reducing aerodynamic forces.
  • shadow effect of the wind turbine is also a problem when it was built near the house.
  • blade design goal is to reduce the shadows and weaken the influence of disco during the rotation.
  • into account min. 20 years of life, the design has attempted to present a sense of harmonious, timeless, long-term functionality.
